Mental Health Awareness Month

It’s hard to believe that May is just around the corner. Sunshine, warmer days, and the beginnings of summertime are fast approaching, but there’s more to it than just the promise of beautiful weather. May is mental health awareness month, and after a year of isolation, quarantine, disease, and a particularly turbulent media cycle, spreading awareness is as important as it has ever been.

Officially established in 1949, Mental Health Month seeks to deconstruct taboos relating to mental health in the United States. Its mission further includes emphasizing that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can recover from mental disorders and live full and productive lives.

At Living Juice, we’ve always stressed the importance of a healthy mind in overall wellness. We can exercise, eat well, and work hard, but if internal stressors aren’t properly addressed the effects can be devastating. That’s why for the month of May, Living Juice is partnering with the JCK Foundation to help support the mission of mental health awareness. The foundation aims to empower younger generations to authentically address the culture of mental health in local communities and schools. With over 40 schools visited, thousands of podcast downloads, and a host of other community initiatives, the JCK Foundation is a powerful force in de-stigmatizing mental illness and supporting those who often feel isolated by it.

In recognition of this important initiative and of our partnership with the JCK Foundation, we’ll be changing our bottle-caps to green, the international color for mental health awareness. Further, a portion of our proceeds in May will go towards the impactful initiatives of the JCK Foundation.

We all have a responsibility to join the fight against stigma and to build a healthy culture around this issue. In the upcoming weeks, stay tuned for a host of giveaways and opportunities for discounts, and join us in helping to spread awareness.
