Environmental Defense Fund

An incredibly wide-ranging and all-encompassing organization, Environmental Defense Fund works to implement solutions under categories like climate change, oceans, wildlife and habitats, and general health. It doesn’t do all of this work alone- the charity works with other organizations and governments to create economic incentives for environmental conservancy. They spend 79.1 percent of their expenses on their charity programs directly.

Natural Resources Defense Council

Focusing on the elements, the Natural Resources Defense Council’s aim is to protect air, land, and water, specifically the most critically endangered habitats. They have a particular focus on rectifying and addressing issues that have long term effects on humans, like nourishing sustainable communities. They spend 83.6 percent of their expenses on programs.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy has a particular area of expertise in the sciences, with over 500 staff scientists at their disposal conducting research in climate change, wildfire, fresh water, invasive species, forests, and marine ecosystems. They spend 71.2 percent of expenses on programs and initiatives.
