We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but we don't all know that the third Friday every October is National Mammography Day! Since 1989, the American Cancer Society has shown that breast cancer death rates are down 39%. This is attributed to improvements in treatments and early detection by mammograms. In fact, the National Cancer Institute states that mammography is the only available screening method shown to reduce breast cancer mortality.
