Concord grapes promote cardiovascular health and can improve cognitive health (benefits similar to red wine), are nutrient-rich, and contain compounds that may neutralize free radicals that can cause DNA damage. And you don’t need to reach for the Welch’s. (Though why not double up on those benefits and have wine, too?) Here’s a recipe that’ll give you purple power, and then some.
- 1 lb organic Concord grapes, halved
- 4 organic Granny Smith apples, cored and diced
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp allspice
In a food processor, mix grapes and the remaining ingredients just until the consistency of thick applesauce. Let sit in a shallow bowl for two hours.
