Back-To-School Snacks: Guacamole

Back-to-school snack - organic guacamole recipe by makers of organic cold-pressed fruit and vegetable Living Juice

The school year is back in full swing, which means backpacks, homework, and hungry kids ready for a snack after pick-up. The after-school snack can bridge the gap between lunchtime and dinner, keeping energy levels up, moods steady, and growing bodies and brains focused for homework and activities.

But here’s the challenge: kids want something fun and tasty, while parents want healthy, nourishing options that don’t take forever to prepare. That’s where plant-based snacks save the day — wholesome, colorful, and full of flavor, without the added sugars or processed ingredients.

Kid-Made Guacamole

Guacamole is not only delicious, but it's filled with healthy fats that can keep you full longer. It's also a perfect snack for kids to make! They love to mash the avocados and mix in any toppings. This snack doubles as an afternoon activity!

Recipe:

  1. Have kids roughly chop onions, garlic, and any add-ins.
  2. In a large bowl, mash avocados.
  3. Have kids dump in spices, lime juice and any added veggies.
  4. Mix together and enjoy with tortilla chips, organic carrots, celery or any way you like!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large organic avocados, halved, pitted and peeled
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1/2 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp. Himalayan Salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Optional add-ins: organic diced cherry or plum tomatoes, diced organic red bell peppers, a little jalapeno (if your kids like the heat!)
